This class forms part of our revolving class schedule so expect a focus on both the theory and practical sides of double column ties. Learn about the fundamental hands-behind-the back Learn about the fundamental hands-behind-the back tie - the Takate Kote or “TK”. Sometimes also called Gote or box-tie, this tie is beautiful, elegant and minimalist, but the simple design betrays the technical details required to tie it well. Learning this fundamental tie opens your Shibari practice up to a world of possibility - it has most of the technical components of common ties (frictions, correct tension, lock-offs) allowing for translation of the skills you gain here into other areas of your practice. If tied without precise attention to rope tension and placement it can be a very high risk tie. Learning the correct method for this tie will give you the respect and reverence for the craft of rope bondage we think it deserves. NOTE: Please note that the partner who will receive the tie (the model or rope bottom) for the TK Workshop will need to be able to hold their arms behind their backs, bent at the elbow, for long periods of time. Please consider this and any shoulder injuries, issues or mobility impairments when booking. Sudo and Fire_Lily teach Body Lacing this Thursday at Embodiment. It is a hugely versatile way of tying your partner or yourself, for any body, and is very pleasurable. Feel what being wrapped up really feels like. Body Lacing, wraps and frictions can be used on Arms, legs, hips, torsos or some combinations of these. It can be used for feeling held and safe, for private play or for tormenting and intense ties and everything in between. This class counts as one of the eight steps in our beginner course. We are incredibly delighted to kick off our first We are incredibly delighted to kick off our first workshop for 2024 with @sungakonji who will be hosting Just for Men: a conversation on intimacy. Keep an eye out as we will also be hosting an Insta Live on this coming Saturday, 6 January at 7PM to talk more about this. This two-hour workshop will explore the topics of sex and intimacy and the construction of manhood when relating with other people. Since this is an intro workshop, no prior knowledge or skill is required for attendance. If you identify with being a man, come along for an open and frank chat. Bring questions, some snacks, and dress comfortably. And so we close the chapter of another busy year, And so we close the chapter of another busy year, celebrating more than 2 years officially as Embodiment with all of you. This rope space would not be possible without all of its volunteers, regulars, collaborators, or folks who randomly stumble into our world. We've had jams every single month, hosted amazing performances and workshops, introduced new event formats, and welcomed in our new official home in Salt River. The books on our public events for 2023 have officially closed, and even though we have limited space available for private lessons and sessions we're taking things easy as we prepare for the new year ahead. We've got changes and upgrades on the horizon, and we are figuring out ways to get even more information out there to help those embarking on their journey of discovery. Until next year...
